The farewell message on the back cover of the 1974 edition of “The Whole Earth Catalog” says: “Stay hungry. Stay foolish.”
I think like many of us, I’ve got to know about this expression from the Steve Jobs’ Stanford commencement speech. And it’s a nice start of any journey – back cover of a book, don’t you find? So I thought this one suits best for my endeavour. According to all ancient mythologies the Universe is a place, where continuous confrontation of two opposite forms of energy occurs. Keeping ourselves hungry and foolish means maintaining the dynamical balance of the world, means moving towards the calming wisdom. And by the way, the great Gödel’s theorem says it will last forever. So, let’s wish us a pleasant journey:
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.
